CASUAL SAILING
If you go sailing when a club activity is not taking place please sign the sailing diary in the foyer, noting boat, names of people, time launched, expected return & plans. So if an emergency occurs a rescue knows who & where to look. It is not recommended boats sail at sea alone. However if you do, please consider the conditions are suitable for your ability and boat. Ensure that you are adequately dressed and take a radio & flares. Remember if the RNLI/Coastguard are called you are endangering others

To apply for a place at the sailing school for 2011 please can you send an e-mail to sailingschool@highcliffesailing.co.uk with the following details, child’s name, date of birth and previous sailing experience and or qualifications.

We will then send you the application form.

Paul & Sue Walker have been brilliantly organising the sailing school for several years now and have accepted the offer from Jenny & Dominic Rogers to take over the organising from 2011 with Dave Holloway from Avonmouth Watersports running the sessions.

The format this year will be similar to previous years catering for children aged 8 and over, with group one catering for those with little or no experience.

This is great fun for the younger children and introduces them to the basics of sailing

Group two is aimed at developing sailing techniques and basic racing skills with the ultimate aim being to encourage the pupil in to joining in with harbour club racing

Whilst the school is not an RYA "recognised teaching establishment" we aim to provide a level of tuition not dissimilar to that used by RYA affiliated schools, we do rely on some parental support to the qualified instructors.

Participants must be club members and need to arrive with suitable sailing wear although buoyancy aids can be provided. Tuition is provided in club owned Laser Picos all of which are relatively new (three being brand new!).

Places are limited to a maximum of 14 per group and will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

Prices are £80 per child for the course.

For further information please contact Dominic on 07791 767116 or Jenny on 07798 885029.
