Sea Fleet

The sea is fleet mainly made up of Monohulls of all classes but the club Catamarans have been known to join in. Racing is held on a Sunday morning, Easter until October and Thursday evenings when the light allows (this seems to be most of the year)Both Sunday and Thursday racing is usually two handicap races back to back, one on a Thursday during spring and autumn when the light fades early.

Christchurch bay with its prevailing westerlies, is the club's best asset for good sailing in open water

Gundimore beach launching

By agreement with Christchurch council we have the facility of launching from the beach at Gundimore. This can really help if tides or confidence make tackling the run inappropriate and allows us to accommodate large numbers for events
This facility is available to all club members. We do however need to consider other users and the terms of our licence agreement with the council:

    • Gates need to be closed immediately after use.
    • Trolleys have to be stacked neatly at the top of the beach in the far left hand corner when looking at the sea.
    • No trolleys to be kept on any part of the access way
    • Sails to be rigged on the beach
    • Overnight storage to be on hard standing areas. At the owners risk.
    • Please consider all members of the general public, they are also out to enjoy themselves and are not necessarily aware of the risks and hazards when manoeuvring boats
