Blokes In Boats

Blokes in Boats

Alex King and William Lack are the chief organisers of Blokes in Boats and we are very well supported by other Club members.

Our aim is to encourage Blokes, who have little or no experience of sailing, or have not sailed for a few years, to get on the water within the safe confines of Mudeford Harbour, and to progress to joining in Club Sailing activities such as Social Sailing or eventually Club Racing.

We are enthusiastic sailors but do not profess to be qualified sailing instructors. For more formal training we might suggest utilising either:

Shoresports on Mudeford Quay Contact Nick May on +44 7867 575280
Or
HSC members Mark Anderson or Ken Fowler for one-to-one tuition. Their contact details can be found in the HSC Sailing WhatsApp Group.

In order to help towards the costs of boat maintenance, insurance and parking, we are asking for an annual, contribution of £25 made payable on Web Collect on the HSC website.

How do I Join?

Please join the BIBs Whatsapp group. The QR code for the group can be found under the members only section of the website. Follow this link to Members only Page
Do I need to let you know if I am coming each week?

We utilise some Club boats and some very generously loaned, privately owned boats, mainly Lasers (Radial and Full rig) and Zests. However, the number of boats can be limited so we do ask all participants to register their intent to join in, on the WhatsApp group, on the previous Thursday.
“If you want to learn how to sail the right way up, Blokes in Boats is a great environment in which to get a solid start or refresher. With a great support team, and a bunch of sailors at a similar level, who do it for the fun of it and without any pressure”. Clive
“Blokes in boats. What a wonderful welcome to the club it was. I had experts teaching from zero to hero for free! All gratefully received from club members giving up their free time and knowledge with the club providing the boats. All in the price of the membership. Thank you to William and all. Can’t wait for this season.” John
“A great way to learn how to sail! Expert tuition and great fun with a happy group of sailors” Alan
