HSC Blokes in Boats is a group of non-sailors, who want to try out a new skill, plus those who have some experience but, over time, have become a little rusty. We have a small team of instructors who will help you hone your sailing skills.

It is a very informal gathering so not too serious. We always have a safety crew around. We sail from the HSC dinghy park into the shallow waters of the harbour so, if you do fall out you can be assured you will be able to stand up !!

A new addition is a bi-weekly Monday evening session for the more experienced sailors who would like to discuss, and try out, some racing techniques and to play even more silly games on the water (all with the intention of improving boat handling skills, of course).

This is designed to establish a route towards joining in with the many racing activities which HSC offers.

Dates, for these sessions, will be on an Ad Hoc basis so, if interested please contact Alex or William to be added to this separate WhatsApp group.

We look forward to meeting you.

How do I Join?

Please scan the QR Code at the bottom of the page if you wish to join the Blokes in Boats WhatsApp group and to be kept informed of our activities.

Do I need to let you know if I am coming each week?

We utilise some Club boats and some very generously loaned, privately owned boats, mainly Lasers (Radial and Full rig) and Zests.  However, the number of boats can be limited so we do ask all participants to register their intent to join in, on the WhatsApp group, on the previous Thursday.

“If you want to learn how to sail the right way up, Blokes in Boats is a great environment in which to get a solid start or refresher. With a great support team, and a bunch of sailors at a similar level, who do it for the fun of it and without any pressure”.  Clive

“Blokes in boats. What a wonderful welcome to the club it was. I had experts teaching from zero to hero for free! All gratefully received from club members giving up their free time and knowledge with the club providing the boats. All in the price of the membership. Thank you to William and all. Can’t wait for this season.” John

“A great way to learn how to sail! Expert tuition and great fun with a happy group of sailors” Alan
