Messages from the Commodore
Hello Members,
I’m delighted and honoured to have been voted in as your new Commodore at the recent AGM. I wanted to introduce myself, and share a few thoughts as we look ahead together.
Firstly, I would like to recognise what a fantastic position our club is in—financially very strong, with a vibrant, growing membership, and plenty of activity both on and off the water. We’re gearing up for a very busy 2026, and I’m grateful to everyone who has helped build such a positive foundation. My main goal is simple: to keep our club thriving and enjoyable for everyone. Growth is always welcome, but my focus is on maintaining the wonderful community we already have.

We’re lucky to have a dedicated committee working hard to make our club a welcoming, friendly hub. Whether you love sailing, paddling, or simply enjoy the social events, you’re a valued member here. Everyone’s contributions matter, and I would like to take this opportunity to remind you that this club is run by volunteers and as a member we rely on you to do your bit, whether that be helping with the bar, events, DIY projects, sailing, or paddling. Every little makes a difference, and it’s also a great way to connect with fellow members.
We also have a team focused on our lease renewal, working closely with BCP to ensure our club remains sustainable for many years to come. As part of the ongoing negotiations we are aiming for BCP to refund some of these costs through rent reductions as part of the lease renewal. Many thanks to Alan Cook and Jim Brown driving these negotiations to positive fruition.
Most importantly, I want you to know that I’m always here. If you have suggestions, concerns, or just want to chat, please feel free to contact me. I’m here to listen and support you.
Wishing you and you families a very Merry Christmas and looking forward to making 2026 a fantastic year together!
Warm regards,
Your Commodore
Russ Hatton
