Club Projects
OCT 2022 - Balcony Project Complete and the balcony itself was officially opened by the Mayor of Christchurch on 1st October 2022 during a huge party at the Club.
SEP 2021 - The painters have been and the building is looking great. The colourful Club signs are now back up and a new Highcliffe Sailing Club sign has been placed on the west facing side of the clubhouse announcing our presence to all those out on the water in the harbour. The balcony has also been brightened up with lots of flowers in containers and some bright bunting.
The CCTV is now installed and a new router has been bought for to improve connectivity. Beware Any Thieves now, we can see you.
The fantastic news is that our planning application to build a roof balcony on the club has been approved!! We are now in the process of looking at how best to march ahead with this brilliant project and how to make good our plans for taking Highcliffe Sailing Club forward.
Below are images of the proposed plans plus the planning application. If anyone has any questions on this project, please do not hesitate to contact any of the Committee Members.
MAY 2021 -The painters should be starting to refresh the outside of the buildings with a new lick of paint.
Meanwhile, on the inside, work is commencing to refurbish the galley with new induction hobs and electric ovens to encourage more foody social events as we already have a new dishwasher to help with the clear-up. We also have plans to reline the main galley walls to make it easier to clean. We will also resume the complimentary self service tea and coffee enhanced by a new Nespresso coffee machine for the wannabe baristas. It may take a few weeks to complete but we hope to be fully up and running by mid June.
Across the main hall, the back bar area was refurbished in the autumn, a new carpet was laid and a new 55" tv/monitor was installed so let's use them. We are also looking at options for a quick refresh of the mens changing rooms but that requires a little more thought.
2021. We are looking at the feasibility of installing high definition cameras with 24hr recording to cover key areas with the dinghy park as a priority. However, there are a number of significant issues to consider so this may take a little time to reach a decision, we will let you know soonest. Meanwhile we are speaking to the BCP representatives about other complimentary security measures which they are considering. While on the subject of the BCP, they have already purchased a number of buoys to cordon off the waters in front of our launching slipways and we also understand that the slipways themselves are in line for remedial work.
In the boat park itself, the new Zest dinghies are proving very popular as is the mast/sail up approach to help you get on the water with ease. It's great to see the club hire fleet in action so regularly and we have two more Zests on order and due for delivery in July. The larger Hartley 15 is now available for family hire and evening training events so great progress there and big thanks to the team who are looking after all of them.
The plan for the new upper deck and glass balcony are progressing. We submitted a preliminary planning application before Xmas and after some discussions with the authorities, received guidance in a recent report as to what might be acceptable. The plans have been tweaked accordingly and a full submission is being prepared, hopefully for submission in June so we are hopeful that this may be approved before year end.
